Are YOU one in a hundred?
Ghost River Theatre needs your support as we blast off into exciting new worlds of performance creation! In association with #givingtuesday we have launched our first ever GRT GIVING WEEK! From now until 11:59pm on December 3rd we are asking 100 of our fans, friends, and supporters to contribute $100 towards our exciting new projects – help us buy a pair of wrestling boots for GIANT, a few yards of fabric for UNDRESSED, or maybe even a few garage sale Ouija boards for INTUITION. A little can go a long way towards our 17/18 fundraising goals!
Donate TODAY (don’t forget to leave your name so we can thank you!) and ATB will match donations by 15% and be part of Ghost River Theatre’s bold new horizon!
Bringing with her a background in writing, devising, and overall creative mischief, we are excited to be adding her talent to our busy roster of collaborators.
Artistic Director Eric Rose notes that “Savanna will be joining us at a very exciting time for Ghost River Theatre. After first encountering her unique intellectual approach during last year’s Devised Theatre Intensive, we are delighted to see how her skills and personality will add to GRT’s activities and are happy to be welcoming her aboard.” Harvey herself notes that she is “thrilled to be joining the Ghost River team! I have been admiring GRT’s work for several years... and am eager to learn and contribute in the coming months. I can’t wait to make some more weird art in the dark!”
Savanna Harvey is an independent creator-performer from Edmonton. Trained in literature and drama at the University of Alberta, she has since worked in theatre, film, new media, performance art, and the visual arts. Her work has led her into various mediums, but always with a curiosity and focus on performativity.
She just finished a cross-Canada tour of her latest show, Shadowlands, which was performed in the dark. In The Annotated Autobiography of Leone McGregor the script was projected in real-time and was as present and active as the actors onstage. For ARTifacts of Protest, Savanna marched in one of the largest political protests in history and then archived and recreated that protest with a gallery of mannequins. Play was a performance installation piece that, among other things, involved dancing blindfolded in the streets with strangers.
Up-coming works include: performing in Antigone at the University of Alberta (December 2017), light and sound design of Shatter with Walterdale Playhouse (December 2017), and a brand-new production of Shadowlands in the New Works Festival at the University of Alberta (February 2018).
