At home in the west village

As a cultural leader in Calgary, Ghost River Theatre joined together in February 2014 with Calgary Young People’s Theatre and Green Fools Physical Theatre to create and run The West Village Theatre, an 80-seat black box performance and administrative space located in the Sunalta area of Calgary. Ghost River Theatre is now one of the two resident companies of the West Village Theatre, which acts as our operations and production space throughout the year. As part of the inner city community of Sunalta, we are committed to providing a cultural space in an area that is otherwise devoid of it and offering artistic exposure to an otherwise under-serviced community of people.

West Village Theatre recently went through $160,000 worth of renovations to improve technical equipment available in the space, and make the theatre easier to use for both artists and patrons. The space is now a flexible black-box theatre with a seating capacity of up to 120.
